How to Track Your ITR Refund Status Online in Simple Steps
Want to know the exact status of your income tax refund? The Income Tax Department allows you to track it online within minutes. Whether through the official e-filing portal or the TIN-NSDL website, here’s a simple guide to help you stay updated.
Using the Income Tax e-Filing Portal
Visit incometax.gov.in and log in with your PAN, Aadhaar, or registered user ID. After logging in, go to the View Returns/Forms section to check your recent filing details and refund status.
Checking Refund/Demand Status
Under the My Account tab, select Refund/Demand Status. Here you can see important details such as the assessment year, type of refund, and current status as updated by the Income Tax Department.
Tracking Refund via NSDL Website
You can also track your refund through the NSDL website at tin.tin.nsdl.com. Simply enter your PAN, choose the relevant assessment year, and submit. The status will be displayed immediately, showing whether your refund is processed, credited, or still pending.
Understanding Refund Status Messages
Your refund may show as:
-
Refund Paid – The amount is already credited.
-
Refund Failed – Usually due to incorrect bank details.
-
Refund Not Determined – The department has yet to process it.
If you see a failure message, ensure your bank details are updated on the portal to prevent delays.
Keep Bank Details Updated
Refunds are sent directly to your registered bank account. Double-check your account number, IFSC code, and ensure your bank account is pre-validated on the e-filing portal to avoid failures.
What to Do in Case of Issues
If your refund has been confirmed but not received, you can:
-
Contact the SBI Refund Banker at refund@sbicard.com
-
Raise a grievance through the e-filing portal
Taking prompt action will help resolve refund issues faster and ensure your money reaches you without unnecessary delays.
